You can also fax the department at (509) 524-7990 or email wwpdr@wallawallawa.gov. The department processes public disclosure requests for police records including arrest reports, incident reports, and related law enforcement documents.

Walla Walla Police uses an online public disclosure request portal for submitting records requests. The portal makes it easy to track the status of your request and receive documents electronically. Collision and traffic accident reports handled by the Washington State Patrol are forwarded directly from WSP and are not held by the Walla Walla PD. For those, contact WSP separately.

The department must respond to your request within five business days. That response can take several forms: it can provide the records, tell you where to find them online, give an estimated cost and timeline, ask for clarification, or issue a formal denial with the legal basis explained in writing. You do not need to identify yourself or explain why you want the records to submit a request.

Note: Walla Walla Police records cover incidents inside city limits only. For arrests outside city limits, contact the Walla Walla County Sheriff.

City Clerk and General Public Records

For records that are not police documents, the City of Walla Walla Public Records Officer handles requests. The City Clerk is also the public records contact. The City of Walla Walla keeps a Document Archive online with a full legislative history of city records. This archive lets you search ordinances, resolutions, and other official city documents without submitting a formal request. For records not in the archive, the NextRequest portal handles submissions.

Inspection hours for city records at City Hall are 9:00 AM to noon and 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. There is no fee to inspect records in person. Fees apply when you want copies. Photocopies over 20 pages cost $0.15 per page. Scanned documents over 10 pages cost $0.10 per page. For electronic files, the fee is $0.05 per group of four files. Large electronic transmissions cost $0.10 per gigabyte.

Statewide Arrest Record Resources

Local police and sheriff records cover incidents that happened in their jurisdiction. If you want to look at a person's history across all of Washington, or if you need conviction data that goes back further than one agency's files, statewide tools are the better option.

The Washington State Patrol runs the WATCH system for statewide criminal history checks. It costs $11 per search and returns conviction records from across Washington. The image below shows the WATCH portal home page, where you can start a search.

WATCH covers convictions statewide, but it does not show arrests that did not result in a conviction. For that kind of detail, you need records directly from the arresting agency or court files. The WATCH portal typically returns results within a few minutes of submission.

The Washington Courts case search is free and covers District Court, Superior Court, and Municipal Court records. It shows filed charges, dispositions, and case status. Walla Walla misdemeanor cases go through Walla Walla Municipal Court. Felony cases go to Walla Walla County Superior Court. If someone is currently in custody, VINELink provides free custody status lookups and notification alerts for the Walla Walla County Jail.
