GovQA Online Records Portal

Issaquah Police use GovQA for all electronic records request submissions. GovQA is the required method for all police records requests. Once submitted, you get a tracking number and can monitor the status of your request online without calling in. You will also receive automatic email updates as the department works through the file.

The Issaquah Police GovQA portal is where you submit all police records requests. The portal is available at any hour and does not require you to go in person during office hours.

The department began implementing body worn cameras in March and April of 2024. A fee resolution for records was adopted in November 2023. If you are requesting body worn camera footage, be aware that redaction fees may apply. The department will tell you the cost before releasing footage.

Submit as much detail as you can when filling out the portal form. Include the incident date, the location, any case or incident number you have, and the names of people involved. Requests without enough detail may result in a clarification notice, which adds time to the process.

Issaquah Municipal Court and King County Records

Issaquah Municipal Court is at 135 E Sunset Way, PO Box 7005, Issaquah, WA 98027. The court phone is 425-837-3170. The Municipal Court handles misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor cases filed within Issaquah city limits. Court records are maintained separately from police records and are governed by court rules rather than solely by the Public Records Act in some situations.

For felony cases, jurisdiction shifts to King County Superior Court in Seattle. King County Sheriff's Office may also have jurisdiction over some areas near Issaquah, particularly in unincorporated zones. The King County Sheriff handles public records requests for incidents that occurred in those areas.

The King County Sheriff Records page covers records tied to incidents handled by the Sheriff rather than the Issaquah Police Department. If you are not sure which agency responded to a specific incident, check with both.

Statewide Arrest Records and Jail Lookup

Issaquah arrest records only cover incidents within city limits. For statewide criminal history, the Washington State Patrol runs the WATCH system. A name-based check costs $11 and returns conviction data from across Washington. Most results come back within minutes. This is the most direct way to check someone's prior record statewide.

Under RCW 70.48.100, three facts are always public when someone is booked into a jail: their name, the booking date, and the cause of arrest. More detailed jail records may be withheld. People arrested in Issaquah and held in custody are typically taken to the King County jail. Check the county's online roster for current inmate status.

For custody alerts and release notifications, VINELink is free. It covers King County facilities and most county jails across the state. You can sign up to get notified when a person's custody status changes.

Under RCW 10.97.050, conviction records are available to the public. Non-conviction records, such as dismissed charges or acquittals, have more limits on copying and distribution. You can inspect those records in some cases but generally cannot get copies.

Note: Arrest records show only that someone was arrested. They do not prove guilt or mean the person was convicted of a crime.

What Issaquah Arrest Records Contain

A standard Issaquah Police incident report includes the date, time, and location of the incident, the type of alleged offense, names and contact details for the parties involved, and an officer narrative. Supplemental materials like photos, evidence logs, and detective notes may also be part of the file. What gets released depends on how RCW 42.56 exemptions apply to that specific record.

Common reasons for withholding information include: the case is still under active investigation, the record contains victim identity protected by statute, the incident involves a juvenile, or the materials include personal or medical information exempt under state law. When any portion of a record is withheld, the Issaquah Police Department is required to identify what was removed and cite the specific legal exemption. You can ask for a written index of withheld materials if you want to know what is missing and why.

Arrest records and conviction records are not the same. An arrest in Issaquah means police took someone into custody. It does not mean that person was charged, tried, or convicted. Under RCW 10.97.050, conviction records are shareable with the public. Non-conviction records, where charges were dismissed or a case ended in acquittal, have more restrictions on copying and distribution. In some cases you can inspect those at the court, but taking a copy is not always permitted.

Body-worn camera footage at Issaquah PD, which was rolled out in early 2024, may also be part of a public records request. Redaction fees apply to video before it is released. Request a cost estimate from the department before work begins, since fees for longer videos can be significant. People who are subjects of the footage may qualify for a fee waiver under RCW 42.56.240(14)(e). Note that clearly when you submit your GovQA request.
